School Mission
  • The mission of Brier Terrace Middle School is to create a positive learning environment which enhances and nurtures the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth of young adolescents.

Curriculum

  • Special education programs designed specifically for students with serious emotional disturbance, specific learning disabilities and other health impairments.
 
 
Instructional Program Highlights
  • Reading is taught in all classes through content area text material. Reading specialist on staff to assist students who need additional assistance; free after school and summer reading academies.
  • Science, math, and technology are taught via a dynamic SciMaTech elective class.
  • Full music and arts program. Students may take early morning PE to enable a full schedule as well as music. 44% of students take music.
  • Language arts and social studies classes are blocked. Teachers work in instructional teams.

Activities and Sports
  • Clubs and extra-curricular activities include: Monster Garage; Math Team; Newsgroup Club; Hackey Sack Club; Tech Reach; Break Dancing; Open Gym; Chess and Knitting.
